Dizziness During Menopause

Though a less common symptom, many women can experience dizziness during menopause. Dizziness can potentially be caused by---or accompany---migraine headaches, hormone fluctuations, mood swings, depression, anxiety, or panic attacks. As dizziness can also be triggered by other conditions, such as high blood pressure, you should consult your doctor if in doubt.

What will dizziness during menopause feel like? Signs might include:

  • vertigo
  • fainting
  • unsteadiness
  • spinning feeling from rising too suddenly
  • loss of balance
  • seeing spots
  • becoming light headed
  • feeling weak
  • being woozy
  • fatigue
  • nausea
  • dehydration

If you’d like to better manage dizziness during menopause, there are several things you can try. Start with your diet. Skipping meals is never a good idea, especially during menopause. Watch your intake of caffeine, sugar and other stimulants. Stay hydrated. Exercise regularly. And try to include some yoga or other form of relaxation.
